Searchify: Keyword search

February 10th, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

Searchify’s keyword search feature provides a handy shortcut for searching on other internet sites.  Several of these shortcuts come with Searchify, and you can add your own custom ones for any sites you want.

The built-in shortcuts are:

  • twt (to search Twitter)
  • dict (to search Google Dictionary)
  • meta (to search Metacritic)
  • imdb (to search IMDb)
  • slang (to search Urban Dictionary)

To add your own, go to Searchify Settings, bring up the menu, and select “Add new item”. You’ll have to enter the search URL you want the shortcut to link to, with “%s” where you want the search term to go.

Hello, is there a way for non-root users to backup the keyword searches one has created? I have spent a few hours transferring my Firefox keyword search engines to Searchify, and I would love to be able to save these data somewhere.

@mb At the moment no there isn’t I’m afraid, but I am planning to add a backup feature in a future release.
