Why can’t I see Searchify in the Market?

February 10th, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

Only phones running Android 1.6 or higher can run Searchify, so phones on Android 1.5 won’t be able to see it.  The quick search box that Searchify enhances was only added in 1.6, so there’s no way the app can work on an earlier version.

Unfortunately this means that currently the HTC Hero won’t run Searchify.  Apparently HTC are planning to release an update some time in March.

I have an Acer Liquid running 1.6, search box and all, and I still can’t see Searchify in the app store. Sadly…

Hmm, that’s strange, but I have occasionally seen the Market fail to find certain apps when searching for their name, for some reason.

Try this: search the Market for “quick search” and check the list of apps returned. Scroll down a bit and you should see Searchify.
